NEW COURSES

The Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at the School fall into the field of Arts training, in the light of the contemporary concept of Art that, as a cultural production of symbolic construction, requires the student to be offered training in various areas of knowledge.

The new Bachelor of Arts Courses in Drawing, Comics & Illustration, and Multimedia Design – 1st Cycle studies – have been designed according to the requirements of the Bologna Process. Design is at the root of, and crosses, them all, embodying the principle that it is an area that enhances a broad range of professional artistic training, as befits the remit of the Polytechnic subsystem to which it belongs. The student is given the possibility of constructing his or her own training route, choosing from the modules within the compulsory strands of the course curriculum, as well as from the optional modules. The curriculum provision is thus optimised for all the courses, which are interdisciplinary, allowing the “mobility” of the student during the course of his or her training.

The new Master of Arts Courses –2nd Cycle studies – also comply with the Bologna model, and have been developed predominantly to guarantee the acquisition by the student of a professional specialism. Facilitating the continuation and deepening of the studies undertaken in the 1st Cycle of courses delivered by the School, the Master’s Courses are also open to everyone interested, as long as they fulfil the entry requirements. Design continues to assert its presence as an important transversal area, either as a core or optional module. The field of new technologies provides indispensable training for accessing the professional know-how and performance demanded by contemporary society. The aim is, therefore, to continue to guarantee, in a specialist area, a broad and multidisciplinary training such as is demanded today.
